Hi guys,

Hope you can help. I have a Seat Cupra, 1.4, 180BHP, 2011 plate.

I have taken my car to several garages who cannot help me. I have been told to trade my car in (not an option) as an owner i want to get it fixed. I am no mechanic but i do understand bits about the car.

The problem
. Low compression (didn't get the readings but i am taking it for another compression test)
. EPC light
. Engine Management light (Static and also flashes at times)
. Misfiring constantly
. Cylinder 4 has sooted up with oil

I have had all plugs and coils replaced, the cylinder 4 coil re sooted after a quick test drive.
I have been told it could be a valve, piston rings... but no one else seems to know the issues. I initially thought it could be a dodgy remap but with the car having low compression it more likely to be the engine.

So I’ve found out the piston rings have gone. I’ve only had the car a year and a few months so it’s a shame. I have traded it in, it looks as though it is a common issue in these cars .
