I'm sure for those of you that have fitted the Chrome diffuser bits yourselves you'll know what i'm talking about:no:

The fitting instructions appear to have been written on a different planet:confused: I read them and had no idea what I was supposed to be doing so read the previous thread on SCN instead.

Thanks for the sticky on it guys, got the two external ones done, just need to know about the ones in the centre of the dashboard now.

I'm planning to use the 2 cable ties method to pull each of the diffusers out and just wanted to know if the plastic surround at the front that is going to be replaced with the Chrome surround comes out with the diffuser or if I need to find another way of getting it out?

PS anybody who is about to do this job (READ THE STICKY THREAD) it'll save you a lot of screaming/shouting and generally upsetting the neighbours:cry:

yes, if you use the 2 cable ties method that I posted the part that you will be replacing comes out with the vent assembly

then it's prety much the same as doing the side ones

a spot of washing up liquid inside the ducting will make it all go back together better too

extreme care is needed as very brittle.
and use something to protect the dashboard with some sort of plastic...I used chamois:p as it can get damaged due to frustration while fitting it:lol:

The SEAT fitting instructions with the new parts tell you to remove the old rings first using a special tool. I spent ages with various hooks and levers trying to do this but couldn't work out where I was meant to be pulling. In the end I nibbled the old ones away with long nosed pliers and was able to twist them out but destroyed them in the process.

I can see that it would be a lot easier pulling out the complete assembly using the cable tie method but I am curious to know how you are meant to do it according to the instructions.:)

The instruction are pointless for the centre ones

Remove the circular cap with the tool U-30800, exerting pressure on the closing collor - see arrows:confused:

Well I looked in my tool kit and I couldn't find bl@@dy tool U-30800

The whole instruction sheet was written by a bl@@dy big tool if you ask me:ban:

They should hand the writting of these things over to people who actually do it.

I bet you'd get a better manual for the fitting of these if it was written by SCN:lol:

Well I bottled fitting the vent rings, ended up just fitting the gear surround which is easy, I didn't fancy trashing the dash on a new car. The silver dash insert on the FR we have livens up the dash well enough, however if I had an all black dash I would probably been a bit braver!
