Yesterday i took my car to the local tyre and exhuast place on my works trading estate to ask him to re-seal my whole system and move it forward (miltek system) to try and get rid of the knocking on the rear beam. He sealed it up fine but hasnt moved it in the slightest. I know this because i asked for the hangers to be pointed forward rather than down as i read in a previous post by sombody that had cured the knocking. So im going to take the system apart today and move it forward and was wondering what the best way to seal it is, obviously ill have some exhaust paste but do i slide them together then just smear some paste around the outer lip where the join is, or do i smear it over a fair bit of the pipe and then slide it together so that there is paste on the inside of the join? Sorry to go on.

Cheers.

ive done lots of systems for people in my time i find the best way is to just smear it on the out side of the seal both with the engine running and off

When you say rattling do you mean its knocking on the rear beam or on the underside of the car when turning left/right? Or both?
