Hi guys I recently bought a 64reg Leon 1.6tdi ecomotive from a used car dealer. Nav gives error message please insert a data medium with valid navigation data. Can you please advise what I need to do to get this to work? Attached is pic of system info.

Mine didn't have the SD card when I test drove it, I confirmed with them that it would be provided when I bought the car. Bought it, they didn't have it ready on the day, they posted me one, it didn't work, car went back to them and eventually they got one to work. I don't know what your rights are to get one out of the dealer if they didn't explicitly say it came with it but I would try asking them first. Otherwise you can buy them online but based on my experience its not as straightforward as it seems.

If the car advert mentioned the satnav system then you can go back to the dealer and ask them to make it work as described.

Would you say it was described from this link as this is what I bought it from?

It says it includes the Seat navigation pack so yes, it's advertised as having a working satnav and you are covered by the normal consumer protection.

You get the dealer to give you one from their bottom draw... don't bother with them installing it if it's already been paired with a card already unless you want your pound of flesh.

A. try it... if it works it works

B. do to the handy resource

Treat as a lost or stolen card. Down load the year dot MIB2 navigation files mention there. That's got your workaround overall.nds file in it. Now download the latest maps... that's index in there. You won't get all of Europe on now or you can delete languages and it will. Apply the workaround method... that overall.nds file copy back to your new maps and you have 2021/22 maps.

If they won't give you a card you buy any VAG card off your favourite e store then do the workaround on the basis of lost and stolen. We tale the lost and stolen route since if it doesn't recoginse the card it's already been paired with a historic release. We don't know which but go back to year dot of mib2 standard on Seats. All thanks to the thread.

Hmmmm re-reading and looking at the picture it might very well be a mib1 unit. 2015/16 is when mib2 came in and reckon you got 2014/15. On that basis the lost and found mib1 card. It has been tricky to find historic downloads on those. Two were found 2014/15 and 2015.

If that's the case you can blag a mib2 card that has the VAG CID on it. Delete what is on it and try those two downloads I outlined in the resource. Afraid your mib1 maps will be frozen in time. Nobody has worked out a way of updating mib1 maps. Ofcourse the community here might come to your rescue. You just need an image of the SD that was associated with the unit at the time. Unlike mib2 no easy catch all saves. You might even need to go back before 2014/15 in your search for the map. 2013 and forward

Yes what we say on the navigation thread if you love your car you can go for a mib2 retrofit but you do need to be carefull if you do it yourself.... I'm sure the boards retrofitter sponsor could help in one way or another. I mean being careful if you pick up second hand units with CP on, retrofit ones are supplied ready to be installed by yourself or you get a retrofitter to do it. Quite a few people went that route from mib1 to mib2. You then get AA and Car Play and map upgrades good to 2025. You could be a devil and get mib2 high in it with Seat Sound or go off on an audio project. Think it's far too early for mib3 retrofit units.
