I'm looking at a 2015 Cupra which has the smaller screen sat-nav unit. My 2016 FR has the slightly larger screen. If I buy the car, can you fit a 2016 screen to the 2015 unit? I think the extra size is worth paying a little for.

Thank you.

Do they both have the MIB2 system? If they do its practically a straight swap i believe.
I replaced my 6.5inch screen with an 8inch one without having to do any modifications.
Its a Leon Cupra 290 from 2016.

I don't know. The Cupra is a 2015 with the smaller screen. It does not have Carplay etc. My 2016 FR is the slightly larger screen and it does have Carplay.

I'm not bothered about the connectivity, I mostly just listen to DAB radio and use the satnav in the car. I just think the screen is a little small now I'm used to the larger one. We also have a facelift car with the biggest screen and no direct access buttons and I don't like that. Taking away the buttons and proximity sensor makes usability considerably worse in my opinion.

I have a 2015 15-reg Leon Cupra with the small screen you’re describing. It’s okay for what you need it do. You get used to it. I don’t even have it on most of the time. A virtual cockpit would have been nice though.

We had the same small screen on the 2014 SE which was the first Leon we had. I agree, it's something I can live with but used screens only cost £100-ish so if it's a straight swap I'd do it.

Car also has optional heated black leather seats which I'm not a fan of. Don't like leather. Too hot, too cold and you slide around on it. I think the standard Cupra seats are much nicer. Apart from that the car's good. I'm confident it's not been boy racered and that's a big deal.

I suspect that being a 2015 model that it will have MIB1 unit, can't update the maps easily.

Seat dealer in Stoke-on-Trent gave me a more up to date nav SD card to what I already had. I plugged it in n it said the data wasn’t readable. They took the card back, refunded me n said the card I already had was the most up to date SD card… 🤨

The 2015 will have an MIB1 infotainment, and unfortunately isn't practically updatable as far as mapping. The MIB1 has a car with AT designation.
The newer ones have the MIB2, these take AS cards, which are updatable, but an MIB1 card will not read an AS card

What does the software update include?
Bug fixes, stability improvements and general optimisations. Your car has MIB2 so you'd just need our cheaper Mapcare package

I had an MiB2 system with the larger screen fitted to my 2013 fr184(Mib1 originally)six months ago.Being able to use google maps or waze instead of the standard factory satnav is the most impressive improvement.
