Hello ok im looking for an exhuast i havnt got big money but i know a guy whos selling a full system from a mk2. He has told me that system has had the front section modded so the restrictive bend as standard and the pipe was changed to straight through with good welding so that will help flow and performance. The system is in 3 parts as we took it apart to make sure its all ok and re fits!

Now theres a picture you can all see! do you think this exhuast will fit my mk3 ibiza??? if so is there alot of work involved as i dont have a welder and would have to go to garrage unless someone one wants to earn some money? Like i said guys selling it dirt cheap (under £70)

In a word no - not without extensive mods to it!

As you will see the exhaust tips are angled whereas on a mk3 they are straight, and I would assume the hangers are in different positions.

Im not a mechanic but I wouldnt of thought it wouldnt fit.

1. The Ibiza is based on a polo not a golf

2. If you could get it to fit it would probably cost u at least another 70 quid (if not more) to get the work done to fit it.

3. Even if it does fit it could fail the MOT - How old is the golf? Im assuming some will have de-cats as they will be old 80's cars.

4. Why not save another £50 and get a backbox for your ibiza that would fit? Would probably work out cheaper, be a better fit and sound nicer. Someone at a garage would fit a backbox on your car in 10mins if you gave them a tenner. You dont want a roaring 1.4 do you? Just a little deep growl would be sufficient?

5. I anticipate this becoming another 'legendry Donovan' thread;)

I still think the most sensible (& cheaper option) is to buy a backbox for you car. Why not ring someone like Powerflow and ask them how much it would be to make you a backbox for your car? I would be surprised if it were anymore than £150 including the fitting.

With these other exhausts your gonna be looking at major work just to get them to fit. As for performance i doubt it would make any difference if you had a full system or just a backbox.

Do you have a 1.8T engine? If the answer is no then there is your answer:whistle:

thats common savvy really.

You would proberly get away with this one as its a cat back and you can fit a mk3 cat back to a mk2 so i assume its reversible. But thats coverd 52k and looks batterd, And in the ad he`s said 'it looks like some one has trimmed the tailpipe' Im sure thats going to look a nice finished product. :wtf:

I dont understand what you mean? i dont think you can remove the tailpipe and replace it with another?

David.

I dont thimk that just sticking the cat bak pipe is going to make any differance at all at the end of the day its only a silencer. Could be wrong though.

Cant see it making any differance what so ever just replacing the middle silencer with a differant one. what makes the differance is the wider downpipe and a sports cat (100 cell/free flowing) I gained next to nothing with just my cat back.

How much do downpipes cost???? I know sports cat costs around £150-£200

but along with the above surely u would need a cat back system???
