Hi there.

My FR is about 5 months old now and all 4 hubs have begun rusting quite badly. I contacted my seat dealer and they asked me to take it in to be looked at.
It was in yesterday and to my disappointment they told me that it was surface rust and, the nature of the materials used. Nothing will be done about it!! :wtf:

:(

Doe's anyone else think this is not right?
Has anybody else experienced this?
And can anyone advise me what to do if i am not happy with the outcome from my service department?

Any help with how to deal with this would be great..

Take wheels off. Get some wet and dry paper, sand back down to a non rusty state then use some treatment on them to stop the rust.

I've been keeping an eye on mine and they are ok so far.

Same for any car im afraid really, for example, brake discs, I fitted new ones two weeks ago, they have surface rusted already.
As mardon said, if you want to do something about it then paint them, I dont personally see the point to be honest.

Hubs are a seriously thick piece of metal, it would have to be major corrosion before they become dangerous. The only way for them not to rust is to go for stainless steel, but it's too brittle for the job. Or some sort of coating on them, which leads to;

As Mardon says, get them sanded down, then I'd probably either go with metal paint on exposed surfaces, or for those that touch another surface (like the face where the wheel sits) a smear of copper grease.

It is just the brake disc, not the hub. You cant see the hub and is purely cosmetic surface rust.

I find using origanal discs seem to last longer before any signs of rust, but cost the earth, but after market discs rust within a few weeks, have painted mine with a alloy paint no probs

For the last 10 years i have used Wickes black liquid gloss, straight onto bare metal, does not burn off, even on the track. nice contrast between the black and the shiny disc.
