hey guys the money pit is in bother again! mechanic says it bringing up a code about running lean and is putting on the engine management light. he says he can do nothing with it because the car is mapped and the settings are different and since it is something to do with the management he wouldnt know where to start!! is there something that could cause this that would be simple or could that map be throwing things off. thanks

What mechanic woulod say that, sound like he cant be arsed.

whats the fault code?

if its running lean then it could be a dodgy lambda sensor or a faulty/failing cat.

posst the fault code mate more help on its way then

Are you getting a misfire?

The oxygen sensor monitors oxygen and not fuel, so if you have a situation where your engine is overfuelling, causing a misfire, the lambda sensor senses too much oxygen and assumes more fuel is needed.

Therefore I would check your air filter, make sure its clean. Also have a look at the spark plugs, if it really is running lean the plugs will be clean, if they are black then you have overfuelling in effect giving a false lambda reading.

If its the above clean out the throttle body also and clean/change plugs.

Hi mate

Check the plugs though, they will tell you if the sensor is telling the truth. Also check the air filter, sounds daft but its really important.

The holding back sounds like air could be being restricted ie air filter, maybe not but eliminates it if it isnt.
