I fitted a air/fuel ratio gauge today and all seemed to be working fine and how it should be untill i put my foot down and the gauge shot into the lean :(

Could it be a faulty lamda sensor or is my car really running lean? doesnt feel like theres anything wrong.

its connected to the existing probe

that's why it's not working.......

I think wideband probes run 0-5V, with 2.5V being Lambda = 1

Narrowband probes (like you have) tun 0-1V, with 0.5V being Lambda = 1

So each time you accelerate it just thinks it's lean

basically you've wasted your money, unless you buy a wideband probe

but then your ECU won't be able to control it's emissions correctly as it will pick up the wrong voltage

SO.

you need to buy a wideband probe, and weld a boss onto the downpipe (pre cat) for it.

Look on ebay and you can get some nice ones for £20. auto gauage i think they called. I just fitted one to my mates saxo for him this afternoon with the standard lambda and it was perfect.
