:help:

My Ibiza has been running really bad in the mornings over the past few weeks.
Even when it not that cold. It revs up and down and smells of petrol. It never cuts out though. About a minute later or when i start driving it will be fine.

It seems to have started after i fitted my JR open cone filter. Maybe a coinsedence but i not sure

Me old man is a mechanic and i have had it code read but no codes appeared.

I have a coolent temperature senser on order as he said that might be something to try.

I just wondered if any of you lads could give me some ideas as to what it might be or if you have had the same problem.

Cheers

mines was due to maf and injectors drawing in air. Check them, unplug maf and see if it still does it

Sounds normal to me, when i start mine first thing you cant boot it. It will stop the turbo from kicking in properly antil about 2-3 mins.

I get a vacuum noise to start with which is the secondry air pump and when that stops making a noise the boost is there for you. It only happened when I put an induction kit on. Dont think its anything to worry about, I guess its to stop you from booting it when the engine is cold:)

I know what you mean Dan but it aint that. It just seems to idle funny when you first start it up and its stationary.

Ive been checking for boost leaks and havent had any joy. Im gonna see if one of the boys at the herts seat meet has got vag com and can give it a quick run through tomorrow. See what it comes up with

My dads got the coolent temperature senser in now so ill fit that before i go and see how it runs.

The more you describe it the more it sounds like how mine is. I seriously think its just the secondary air pump which is nothing to worry about.

To give you an example of mine in the morning, I start it and it will idle at around 1.1k revs for about 2-5 minutes. I can hear the vacuum noise coming from the secondary air pump and the car is really restrictive.

I leave the car to idle until this stops. I know when it stops because the vacuum noise goes and the revs drop to about 0.8k revs. Once thats done the car then sounds normal and i get the DV noise back.

If this is the case with yours and you have no fault codes I would say its nothing to worry about.

This only started happening to me when I changed the original air filter for a dynatwist induction kit as the secondary air pump is not used now.

Is this the case with yours or is it different?

I know what you mean Dan. Mine does this to after.

This is what happens.

I start it up in the morning or from cold. It coughs and splutters like the engine is gonna die. I have had the coolent temperature switch changed and it still seems to be doing it.

Its fine after a minute or so.

I've got similar probs, but cant find the boost leak anywhere.

Anyone know a way of pressure testing the I/C, or where i could get it done?
