Rough idle/lack of Power - gti 2.0 sohc

Hey guys,
I've just picked up a 1996 ibiza gti 2litre sohc. It's idling rough at the moment but not like a constant miss - seems more like its running rich or the timings off? anyway it also has a lack of power at full throttle, it just makes more noise but doesnt go anywhere. It seems to run fine at lower rpms and partial throttle just struggles when u put ur foot down. Also if u give it a quik hit on the go pedal it hesitates a bit. Anyone had any similar problems or got any ideas?

Any other ideas peoples? I was thinking maybe an airflow sensor problem or sumthing but i'm not sure coz i'm unfamiliar with the set up of these cars. Is there a way to read fault codes from the dash like japcars have? (I know its a big call for eurocar makers to be that clever but you never kno) and if so is there a list of fault codes available?

Vauxhall managed it lol, but I think the answer is no tbh I dont think the on board computer supports that form of output but I could be wrong.
