Road/Tyre Noise

This may have been discussed before but can't find it.

I had a bog standard 57 plate Cupra and need some new tyres, I have had two sets of Pirelli's (Rosso and Nero's) both sets I have had over 20 K so pleased with the lifetime and grip.

I cant fault the car (except for the crap hifi)

The road noise is now getting me down with the Cupra especially with the motorway's in the UK. People find it difficult to hear me on the bluetooth factory car phone kit, and before you ask it's not at 120 mph

Is it me or is the Cupra loud inside or is it the tyres or a combination ?

Done 45 k in my Cupra so far and may have to do another 25 K +

Any help appreciated.

Cheers Jason.

The camber setup of your rear wheels may be to blame here perhaps? It can cause strange wear on the inside edges of the rear tyres, causing excessive noise which sounds a bit like a faulty bearing.

Have a read of this thread:

I haven't noticed the phenomena on my FR TFSI yet, although I've only done about 5.5k so they wouldn't be too worn anyway at the back, I hope!

If I get my suspension upgraded to soften the ride slightly, I'll ask for a full alignment/adjustment at the same time I reckon, just in case. Won't be getting it done at least until the first service though.
