Hi all,

Looking for some advice and some opinions on the below.

I am looking to get my FR150 Tech Pack Alloys sprayed black, as I really think it would finish the car off. With having black alloys on my previous vehicle however, I understand the struggles of keeping them black! Therefore I have 2 questions:
  • Is there a recommended way to have my alloys sprayed? (previously, a white powdered undercoat appeared to have been used which looked horrific when chipped)
  • Can anyone recommend some black rim protectors, that wont cause a stir when I need to have my tires changed?

I have mine black powder coated and got a very good deal from Trans alloys in Yorkshire. paid £300 for all 4 19" fitted and balanced, all in.

in terms of protection, i had some stick on rim tapes and one came off on the front on the motorway and left marks all over the front wing! (i did put them on correctly too) i would go for the protectors that actually go in-between the wheel and tire, they need putting on by a specialist because they have to unseat the tire to get them in but that also means their not gonna come off like mine did on the motorway.

they all have various names but i would just make sure you get the ones that actually go in-between the wheel and tire.

I wouldn't waste your money having them painted, I had the alloys on a previous Cupra R painted black, after 12 months ( and repainting by someone else) they were shocking. Powder coating is the way to go. Everytime.

Look into Alloygators for rim protection. I’ve been looking at them for my Cupra 300 but due to the wheels being Diamond Cut the installer wouldn’t fit them. They should be hood for your wheels and they do work well.
