Hi,
Does anybody knows the height difference between the 1,4 Ibiza's : how much lower is a Fr than a normal 1,4 85 Hp. I want to lower my Fr with the Seat sport springs but my dealer tells me that since the Fr is already lower than a normal car the lowering springs will hardly lower the car. But I thought the springs lower the car 35 mm which is a lot

he's chatting jive mate...

whether the fr is lowered or not after you put the springs on you will get a 35mm drop..ive had 35mm on my fez before and that was a nice drop. Fills the arches well.

Dealers just dont like people tinkering with cars.

No he isnt talking jive, he is right. The Sport lowering springs are not FR specific, so if they lower a 1.4 35mm and the FR was 10mm lower as standard then it would only lower the FR 25mm.

And as it goes im quite happy to tinker..lol

Wanted to order the loweringsprings at the dealer but was told that the springs for the regular 1,4 dont fit a FR or Cupra. They are not resistent enough ?????
Is there a FR or Cupra out there with the Seat sport lowering springs ?

say u get an FR and it has been lowered 10mm more than a standard car...

you take the 10mm lowering springs off and put 35mm eibachs on..surly now the car is now lowered 35mm?

The springs lower a standard car 35mm. So the company making the springs measured the drop at 35mm on a standard car. So if the car had a 10mm head start anyway it would only lower 25mm on that model.

The car would be 35mm lower than a non FR etc

But it would only be 25mm lower than another FR

but you could say...i took the standard springs off and lowered it 35mm lol

Now my dealer says that the Seat springs are not compatible with a FR or a Cupra, they are only for the non supercharged 1,4 !
Has anyone put the Seat springs on their FR or Cupra ?

tried looking on the eibach website and cant find anything for them on there.

i know that when i had my fiesta the 1.25, 1.4's had to be different springs to what was on the 1.6tdci and 2.0 st's. obviously because the difference in weight of the engines.

but i dunno what the difference would be between a 1.4 and a 1.4 tsi would the turbo and supercharger weigh much more??

Plus the DSG gearbox.

By kerb weighs the Cupra/Boca is 100kg heavier than a regular 1.4

serious lowering is not possible at the back without shorter travel dampers to retain short springs, I still had to modify the KWs on mine to get it right.
