Revo SPS2

Hi,

Today I was given an REVO SPS2, I have a Cupra R 225, and put it on this morning on RON mode 98.

I'm currently running on Shell V-Power, and although I think I have noticed a difference in third gear and up mainly, I'm not 100% sure or convinced whether its in the mind or not... Its not given me as much of an improvement as I thought it would....

Has anyone else experienced similar ?

Many Thanks

Paul

itll take a while to adapt fella, unless you were turning the boost or timing up hugely you wont really notice it all come together in one lump, in a day or two you will start to notice a bit more pull (if your car wasnt already set to that)

Hi, apologies for asking very basic questions )

Am I essentially just at stage 1 of Revo when I plugged the SPS2 in this morning ? I just wanted to be sure, as I've read stuff about needing to change the air filters etc when at Stage 2 I think, so just wanted to be sure that I wasnt going to do any engine damage by leaving the car at standard spec.

Thanks
Paul

Apologies if this comes across in the wrong way, but have you had the actual REVO software uploaded and remapped on your vehicles ECU?

The SPS (serial port switch) device you have been given will only work if the ECU has been remapped by an authorised REVO dealer, once this has been done your SPS2 can switch between stock & performance mode, disable the ECU (secondary security device) and tell the car when you are running on 95 or 98+ RON fuel.

Hi Chris,

No need to apologise, I'm glad you asked that question because I really have no idea about this stuff...
I've had no software, I was literally given an SPS2, told to switch on the ignition, plug it in (in RON 98 mode), wait for the bleep, then take it out and leave it 10 seconds and that was it...
No maybe I understand why I havnt noticed much of a difference !

So i take it, this SPS2 is useless unless I get the software uploaded at a REVO dealer ?

Many Thanks

Paul

The SPS2 will only work if you have had REVO installed on your car. Without that, the SPS device is doing nothing at all.

Revo is around £500+VAT for Stage 1. Once you have that you'll have a massive amount more power and torque and your SPS2 device will work properly :)

Okay mate, unfortunately the SPS2 you have been given isn't any good on your vehicle unless you get the ECU remapped. (But don't throw it away...!!)

The SPS's are handheld devices for making simple tuning changes by the owner, for example, my vehicle is a Leon Cupra 180 and I had the ECU remapped ('chipped' by REVO software) the BHP goes to about 210 (from the standard 180) and with a SPS device I can alternate between the 2 (put it back to standard form when the missus uses it !!!)

REVO offer stage 1, 2 & 3 programmes (mine is stage 1, no further modifications required) if as you mentioned earlier had stage 2 fitted, then yes the car needs a quality exhaust and sports CAT and induction kit.

The 1,2 & 3 stage chipping programmes and the SPS devices are 2 seperate items.

If you have your cars ECU remapped the BHP will go to about 265, then with your SPS device you have you can make the alterations available on the device as many times as you like!

Have a browse on www.revotechnik.com which should help solve some questions.

As they have all said it's useless to you at the moment. But on a plus point, if as you said you were given the SPS 2 then you've done well, were you aware you would normally pay £100+ for a second hand one and double that for a new one! Now just go and get the software to go with it.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but what would people recommend paying for, the Revo re-map and maybe sps2 or the custom re-map from Jabba sport?
