Revo, custom code or Upsolute?

I'm so far a totally standard as far as engine mods, air intake etc go. I've the 180bhp petrol Leon.

And being here has got me restless in the quest for more initial power and acceleration. My main worry is losing speed/power whilst having to downshift at junctions and roundabouts etc..once up and away I'm pretty happy with the car (for the time being;)

What do you consider the best value for money mod. in engine tuning/chipping?
I've heard an awful lot about REVO on this forum which is good especially as theres a free trial but the final product costs £399 + vat = £468, with REVO claiming 207bhp. Oh yeah whats custom-code? seems similar price to Revo...another thing I'm confused by.

On the other hand Upsolute costs £295 fully inc. of vat. with a claim of 212BHP. I haven't heard too much about Upsolute though the little I could find seemed to be good. The only other concern I'd have is I'd want smooth power delivery, will Upsolute be able to do this as well as Revo. How are the two different, if at all? any opinions/advice appreciated.

I will be getting the 007 filter anyway as a start.

Which is the best can mean a lot of different things. Revo for example will allow you to tweak the setup using a SPS3 or immobilise the car and switch the remap on and off with a SPS2. (Both of which are an additional cost) Custom code claims to be smoother and you apparently you can switch it on and off with a laptop and cable. Upsolute is the cheaper option as you've discovered and many people have had good results with it.

The thing is there probably aren't that many people who've had all three, so any opinions are going to be a bit subjective, but try doing a search and you'll see what people have to say about them all.

What's a 007 filter btw? Do you mean the Forge 007P?

Custom Code is the name of the Company. www.custom-code.co.uk
A little confusing at times... They do generic stage 1 tuning like the others, but also custom maps for those with more mods that have outgrown regular remaps.

REVO has SPS3 as its tuning/adjustment gizmo, which allows some adjustment of ignition advance and boost settings. Combine this with vag-com datalogging and following some guidlines there is some margin for DIY setting up if your into that sort of thing.

I'm slightly bias since I have had 3 Upsolute remaps - all on diesels check out the feed back on these sites.
Another one I'v used on my daughters Mini One is Performance Torque tuning who are near Brum about the same price as Upsolute.
The only apparent advantage is having a remapper who can rolling road the new setup which Upsolute and Performance donot have as yet. ............................

Upsolute, Jabba etc tailored code?

cheers for your comments.

The main thing I'm looking for from these re-maps is increased power/acceleration at start up (as most my driving is city/ A Roads) and to lower the lag and speed it loses when downshifting at roundabouts I just want to fly by:D

The car is totally standard and all I plan doing atm is changing the dv to Forge 007, should this be sufficient to cope with extra power? I don't want my clutch to be slipping.

I haven't contact anyone as yet apart from an initial enquiry to Upsolute who seem really helpful and the good thing they come out to you!

I'm not too bothered about rolling road day /print out figures as the performance itself should speak louders than words (print figures)

I'm also interested in Jabba. Can any of these (Upsolute, Jabba) be put back to standard whenever you want or is a trip to the co. each time you want to do it?

Does anyone know are these re-maps already programmed i.e its stanadrd to each company or will they re-write it and tweak it where you want the power, so its unique to your driving style?

Are the curves available anywhere all superimposed onto one another, so we can compare, anyone done that? It'd be nice to compare all the re-maps

Basically Revo Stage 1 will give you exactly what you are after. I have this on my LC. I went straight for the full code. For normal real world driving its simply storming over stock.
I have a Forge 007 and Green Panel filter fitted as well run the car currently on BP Ultimate Unleaded and have SPS2. I run the car on the 98 Performance Setting.
Unless your car has done high mileage I don't see why you should even be worrying about your clutch.

Sure that any of the other tuners will give exactly the same, its up to you to decide which one you want.

seriously from what i read on here all youve mentioned will put a huge grin on your face:D

reason i went for jabbasport amongst other things was there friendlyness, i also had other bits done... zorst and suspension and they were very competitive.

with a full zorst i got 242bhp 236lbs/ft

that was over a year ago. im still lovin it:funk:

i've had experience of revo and upsolute and i prefer upsolute.

I had revo on a leon cupra and it was very good but i found it ran out of steam higher in the rev range. whereas i found upsolute (on a ibiza) was a much smoother power delivery through the range.

you say you want the power lower down so maybe you would prefer revo...its all personall choice at the end of the day. but especially given the price difference i'd pick upsolute every time.

Bear in mind our software is adjustable (by the dealer as well as using an SPS3) so it can be set up with more lower down power or with a less aggressive/more progressive setup!
