wondering if any 1 would know what this problem is only happens when the cars warm adn beein drivign aroudn for ages doesetn hapen wiht tis cold or just wamred up

what happens is when you lift of teh acelerator the car will still keep goign as if you still got foot down only for a second or so. if you put your foot down on the cluch and lift of acelerator the revs wil go up before droping down, if your goign for it and near red line it will hit teh red line when i chaneg gear.

i know that above the clutch peddle there is some sort of switch that is haning down but not sure what this is for?

cheers

My old Escort used to do something similar to that and they changed the pentiometer on the throttle (apparently) and after that it behaved

i think its the sensor near the clutch peddle as mine is banging down and when it starts doing this revving thing I press it a few times and it stops, mine just needs a new clip to put it in place maybe yours is faulty?

Have a look take the panel out under the steering wheel and you’ll see hols in your clutch peddle and accelerator there will be a white sensor with a purple clip on I think.

my clutch pedal broke the other day and needed removing to be welded and i had to take the accelerator thing off and its done it ever since. think i bent the bracket a bit tryin to get it off. maybe i will have a fiddle with it and see if it is better.

This may be related.....

Follow your clutch pedal lever up under the dash and you'll find a small white plunger switch that is resting on the clutch pedal lever itself. This switch tells the ECU that you have pushed the clutch pedal down, and the ECU in turn cuts fuel. Your switch is more than likely out of position or broken so your ECU isnt cutting the fuel when the clutch is pressed.

Check that the switch is actually there
Check that its screwed into position
Check that its plugged in

If all of the above seem ok then get yourself a new switch, part number 8DO91107A

The main problem with these switches is that they have a plastic thread which screws into a bracket under the dash. This thread gets stripped very easily and the clutch pedal lever pushes it back into the bracket which casues it to be just out of range of the pedal arm or sometimes even fall out.

If your thread is a little knackered then wrap a bit of thin tape around it to beef it up a bit.

Is the clutch pedal switch, is a dealer part only? or can gsf supply one?
