Rev limiter?

The only thing I have wrong with this car is the lack of a rev limiter, the noise of the engine even at 4500rpm is a gentle purr, and keeps asking for more!!

Im worried that I may over rev and blow something. Has anyone fitted a limiter?

Far as i can tell there's no point taking it over about 4200rpm as there's nothing more there in terms of torque or bhp - it's just revving it for the sake of it. Not that i don't take it over that sometimes, but that's usually in 1st or 2nd when it catches me out and the TCS is fooled.

No, Im talking of taking it over 4200 rpm accidentally, I would not do it on purpose. I guess its the fact that the car is new and I dont know its "sound" yet.

thought they did, just worked in a slightly different way.

a petrol car cuts off fuel abruptly, but a diesel reduces the fuel gradually until it reaches zero at maximum rpm. so it appears to do this smoothly rather than a sudden stop of acceleration.

A petrol limiter acts by cutting the ignition, diesel's don't work the same way of course so the limiter will be different - but there is one.
