Rev limiter increasing?

Hello all, I've been lurking since mid January after buying a rather nice '01 Cupra :) Bog standard with only the cupra badge removed (far too many badges on the back!)

Today I was giving it some welly (as you do!) and was a bit puzzled when the rev limiter didn't kick in until a few hundred rpm past the start of the red. Every time prior to today it was coming on dead-on or just before the red. I'd say it has moved by about 500rpm overnight

Is this the ecu 'learning', or has something gone a bit pear-shaped?

Just now it was coming on at about 6800, before it was 63/6400. Hmmm....

change about 6000-6300 rpm on my LCR and its perfect any more and it doesnt do anything extra so its a waste of time, only realised today how long the revs take to drop back to idle but im guessing there all like this :)

Yeah, it's to do with environmental reasons. Unburnt fuel etc. The ECU keeps the revs up. You can notice the revs rise when you push the clutch in to change gear sometimes.
