Hi

I am due to return my 290 cupra in July and up until today it has been in fantastic condition. However I clipped a kerb at a roundabout and now have the damage to the alloy and some tyre rubber as below.

the tyre tread is fine so wasn’t planning on replacing but given the picture some of it has torn away do I need to get both a new tyre and the alloy refurbed ?

any recommendations on places to do this in Leicestershire/loughborough area ?

thanks

Unfortunately the cupra comes with continental contisport tyres £150 a tyre it does say on nationwide website you can choose another brand though they stipulate premium tyres with examples Pirelli, Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear or Dunlop.

Is the tyre structurally damaged? If it's only the surface/lip, then maybe you can glue it back down. Best have a tyre repair place have a look at it and see if it's possible.

p.s. I feel your pain! It sucks when it happens.

I think your Alloys are fine and you prob wont be charged with how small it is, your tyre might need changing however.
Check this site out:
They are somewhat lenient to be fair.

That looks like the laughingly called rim protection that’s been torn. I doubt It’s caused any structural damage to the tyre, I’d just cut the torn lump off. (I’ve done so in the past).

I think thats probably enough for them to charge, but its likely no more than it would cost you to get it done. I have alloy insurance and the company that did my wheel would have charged £125.

I've recently returned my lease car (non Seat), and I had a much smaller damage area on the rims, but the person and 'tablet' picked up on that. However as mine was really small (literally the same width as a usb C connector), the 'tablet' classed it as no charge. However with such a long 'curb' I do fear it would be chargeable. At least for me, minor door dents larger than 15mm were charged at £48 per door. I do not know how much alloy damage would cost. I did previously curb my wheel that much and went to Whoops Wheel fix it (based in Hendon London) and they did a patch up for about £75 if I remembered correctly, could not find where the damange was previously. I wasn't a recut, just a gloss and polish over it. I can recommend them for anything wheel related.

Isnt it 10cm of kerbing per wheel? I thought that was the industry standard.
