rite ok i know i tried this thread before but it dies litterely......so here i found out how the mpg display works, wiper has a button at the end which controls the display to show mpg...petrol miles etcc.... so if i get one of these arms from the scrappies, and get the correct wiring and programmed, should i then be able to use it, or will i need to change my entire dial/display unit?

Im interested to see how this works, was thinking about it myself.

I'm assuming that somewhere, this system will need a control unit - connected to the ECU, which will calculate and display the info... so surely this will be needed too.

I think you'll need a new screen - the non trip computer models have a two line display, as you can see the trip computer models have a one line display

No idea to be honest mate - you're a bit of a pioneer on this!!

haha yeah, think the quest has come to an end, spoke to my brother bout it and he said even if i change the dials to another set the milage will be wrong and cant be changed unless the dials are brand new with 0 miles on the clock, so guess im giving up now, will just do without :(

They can be mate.

If you get a set and want to give it a go, I have VAG-COM and a few other util's that can code a set of clocks, change mileage etc - can help you out no problem.

You will need a different dash, they list ones for Ibiza with MFD and without.

Also you can't reporogram dash mileage with VAGCOM or dealer equipment, once its in its in. VAG Tacho does et you re program mileage but not on all models.

On your model all it has is lights in it, some other spec levels have a half or full display.

why dont you buy a scangauge and plug that into the OBDII port and have done with it ....surely by doing it this way as you can get a scangauge for £120 it will work out cheaper.....

are you deffinatly sure about that?
on my audi s3 its similar and it shows a digital speedo and what music is playin etc.
i assumed this would be the same? but might just be off due to the prior accident
