Just been thinking about my next mod and i think to add a bit more to the car i would get some electric mirrors fitted. This would be a dealer job as i am not messing around with electrics, i hate wiring etc, i just can't do it. So has anyone done this themselves or had the dealer do it. I'm thinking it would be relatively cheap, just a blanking plate for the passenger side adjuster, a few buttons on my side, a couple of small motors and a few wires. I will get Darren on the case, but just wondered if anyone has done it! Thanks guys :) Oh and as my sig says i have an sx model if thats relevant.

I'd also be interested if anyone has the answer to this one?

I've looked into this and it would require:

a new wiring loom in the door to have the extra plug so that the eletric motor for the mirrors can plug into.

Then the fuse required for the fuse box.

Also a new button and face plate for the mirror adjustment.

And a whole new unit for the electric mirror (guessing it would be a new unit don't think you could use your old ones).

My dealer said it can't be retro fitted, but then they said that about the cruise control... dealers should speak to JBS.

Prices? Would love to have it done one thing I really wanted on the cupra. Then a year later they did... doh!

ETKA has just turned up a work so.. I study the difference between the cupra without electric folding mirrors to a sx see if there is any parts different then compare the electric folding mirrors.

Ok starting from the outside to inside you will need

rear view mirror housing, folding with elec. adjuster unit rhs and lhs
cap for rear view mirror - use old one
mirror glass - use old one
All fixings - use old ones

- rear view mirror electrically folding - thats what we are aiming for...

hmmmm sounds like a nightmare.

My ibiza in question is the 1.4tdi ref/sport. Has electric windows, centrol looking and alarm (deal fit option) its just missing the electric mirrors.

The choice was between the polo or the ibiza as both offered the same finance package. We didn't think the extra £2k asking price was worth it for electric mirrors.

Ric - Thanks for the info so far. What do you mean by

- rear view mirror electrically folding

LHS rear view mirror housing, folding with elec. adjuster unit 6L1857508F 01C
Satin Black version 6L2857507D

#2,#3,#4 use your existing ones
#6
#12 6L0857689A
#14 N 10415901

Wireingharness.jpg

#1 wiring harness for door / for vehicles with rear view mirror electrically folding and radio control locking system / anti-theft alarm system with interior monitor 2 doors

6L3971120

But I don't know if the wiring harness will come with all the plugs shown, or you have to buy the plugs seperatly(sp) my guess is that harness will split at number 21.

If you've ever taken the door panel off then its quite straight forward.

These number are from VAGCAT, can't load ETKA onto works PC so will check them when I get home.

yup my old one was a 04 plate 1.4 se it has like all the extras that they fitted to 1.4's! and sport models dont have them to prob keep the price down but i would rather pay extra and get these extras! no climate either sucks lol
