My LCR has a few battle scars and i'm thinking about trying to sort them out in the new year.

The boot has a blemish under the lacquer where the dealer touched the paint up and mybonnet has a dent from kids chucking a pop bottle.

I have painted a couple of sets of wheels now and have previously painted a wing but in a flat base colour.

Has anyone had experience putting the platinum colour on???? did you use white or grey primmer???? and any other tips????

Thanks in advance

I dont think your going to get a perfect colour match with an aerosol, greys can be quite hard to match and and fluctuation in colour variation will stand out. Best bet is it go to a bodyshop unless you have the equipment and experience to do a decent job. I had an aerosol mixed from halfords for chassis legs in engine bay, wasnt really botherd about it being perfect aslong as it stops rust and that was miles off.

it won't be with an aerosol.... it will be properly mixed and i've got access to a really good gun, compressor and booth.

I think if you just spray the one panel it will probably stand out.
For example, when i had my bonnet resprayed they blew the tops of the wings in aswell to disguse the join between old and new.

Probably not the best description but i hope you get what i mean?!

yeah you will need to blend platinum grey pearl, also dont go any rougher than 400 on a sander or 800s by hand or you will see scratches in the basecoat

Had my boot done in the summer by a professional as it was dented by some nice person[:@].
The platinum is really hard to match they said and even now it is a slightly different colour if you look hard and catch it in the right light.

Good luck to you if you do it yourself matey!!!
