The car has gone in for it's 50k service today + brake fluid change so would imagine they'll take it for a test run.

What's a resonable amount of mileage for them to do on a test??

Hate leaving it with anyone and it's the first time I've used this dealer so there better not be a mark on it when I pick it up later.

Hi Mate
If it is a sraight forward service I would say just a couple of miles.
It depends on where the dealer is.
With some road tests it is worth getting it up to 60ish as they will let you know about wheel balence etc?
I have noted though that sometimes I think the specialist have a little more respect for other peoples cars than dealers.
I noted a few little knocks at the dealers.
I have not noted one at the specialists so it could just be down to luck or a little more respect?
Hope all is well for you anyway.

I took CupraMax's advice a long time ago........if the car is going in for a service fill in the mileage in the service book yourself and leave it open on the passenger seat....you have a nice record of the mileage.

I would say 5 miles is plenty for most things

I have argued with my Local stealers on this one....
...aparently anything up to 3/4 miles per run...
...so if they have to take it out twice or three times to test brakes then engine or whatever, that can soon rise to 10+ miles...
...anything over the 5/6 mile mark i would query.

Thanks guys, I would have rathered used a specialist but for convenience I chose the dealer this time(+ it's got FSSH up to now)

Next one will be cambelt so definetely want to use a reputable specialist then as I'm not too happy about selling a kidney to pay Seat to do it!

I really try and look after my car so will be slightly more than annoyed if I find any damage, especially to the wheels as they are perfect. Guess we'll find out later, fingers crossed

Well got the car back just now after receiving a text from the dealer to tell me it was ready!

Very good service actually and they did comment on how nice the car was and how I've kept it in supurb condition, well thankyou :)

Not even one recommendation for anything that needs doing so hopefully have a few months trouble motoring.

This was Seat - Ilkeston co-op, Lincoln by the way

Nimbus hosting - Based solely in the UK.
