After having several problems with the car i have found that the vac pipe to the fpr on my lcr is split and leaking. I have new pipe and am hoping to replace the all of the vac lines today as well as n249 removal or bypass?

Does anyone know hoe to get to the vac pipes on the bottom of the inlet manifold without having to remove the manifold itself?

Any pictures or advice with the n249 bypass/removal on an lcr as i have read hundreds of different threads and seen loads of different ways to do it so i am really confused now :-o

Cheers

no the original ones are held on with those stupid one use clips but i just got a small flat bade screwdrive and pushed them offas there not on very tight .. i would take one off at a time or note which goes where ..but basicly the one that comes from the n249 down to the inlet thats the one you want to take from the inlet to the vac line in top of the dv ... you dont need to blank th old hole off on the n249.. also the one with the t piece in you remove just replce that with a strait bit of vac line hey presto you have done the by pass ....

if you take the pipe off from the charge pipe it makes it a tad easyer to do you only need to move it out the way ... just make sure you do it back up tight as mine popped off lol

bakster, what problems exactly did this give you, was it giving you a chattering noise when cold?

The dv is chattering when hot and cold and it has a very rough idle. Sometimes get hesitation when accellerating but not sure if thats down to in. The pipe to the FPR is badly perished and cracked and when i wiggle it, the engine stutters so that is my first guess

i'm interested in doing this to my lc, how much pipe will you need to change all the vac pipe. Does anyone do a kit with all the right lengths pre cut or is it cheaper to buy 1 long length and cut it your self. I'd like to replace all of the coolant and boost hoses with silcone ones but funds are short at the minute so vac hoses will look good for a small outlay. As most of the hoses seem to be hidden behind the engine cover then that will be removed and kept just in case its needed.

Just to say that its all done and the car seems to be fine now. Also notice much better dv response now i did the bypass. I bought 5 meters of 4mm pipe on ebay for £10 and i used it all bar a little bit. I did replace the pipe to my boost gauge too though so it all matches.
