Replacing split oil breathers - help/advice needed

After spending ages sourcing a silicon y-breather I tried to fit it today only to find that the plastic lower pipe was split as well. It basically came off in my hand [:@].

With a little futher investigation I've found that there must also me damage to the oil breather pipes under the inlet manifold. The plastic pipe goes into a large t-peice that is covered in oil deposits. There is also a U shaped pipe right under the manifold that is also covered in oil desposits.

The problem pipes are hidden amongst a load of other pipes - don't know what the do or if the contain oil or water. A few of these appear to be clipped to a plate attached to the manifold. Do I have to remove this? Will I run into issues?

I'm searching through threads at the moment but any advice would be most welcome...

Any tips or advice on removing or un-clipping bits on this plate would be much appeciated. I've successfully got it of the dipstick without damage but still need more movement to get my arms in to remove the PCV pipes.

Thats OK then. Started removing this last night in crap light - but want to sort removal of the PCV system first thing so currently hunting through threads gathering as much info as possible. But detailed info on removing this plate is limited. The best has been on UKMKIV's so far.

Had the exact same problem 3 weeks ago when i changed my y pipe, in the end i got some heatshrink and repaired the plastic pipe as a temporary measure. Kept my eye on it since but as far as i can see there's no point in changing it as it's holding really well. As for the pipe in the manifold i took the plate off the maniflod and popped the dip stick tube off it and managed to get my hands in to replace it and i also discarded the oem clips and bought some small jubilee clips as the oem ones are too much of a pain to put back on!
