Is it possible to replace the standard Radio/CD and LCD with an alternative? It looks to be part of the DASH design so I'm guessing I'm stuck with it.

Should be able to get an fascia adapter, but doubt it would look very good

You've got me worried. How bad is the standard stereo then? About to order an FR in the next few weeks so it would be good to know. I've noticed that there are no seat upgrade options so it needs to be good.

Phew! I like my music but with that set up I wouldn't like to try and upgrade.

darellr - is it the sound quality or just the appearance of the headunit? If it's sound maybe just upgrade the speakers?

Sound quality is pants. I've heard that a number of Altea/Leon MK2 owners have replaced the speakers. I intend to do this too. However the reason for change for me is that I'd like to fit a DAB capable head-unit and/or investigate a cheaper Sat. Nav. option. The problem is I like the steering wheel control buttons!

Maybe you could get a portable DAB and run through the aux in? As for the sat nav I'm stumped. I much prefer the in-dash option rather than the tomtom style stuck to the windscreen with suckers.

I think, maybe, i have been told that the New Leon Radio has always had the AUX in option as part of the radio its self. but the cable and 3.5 headphone jack has only been installed in the 2007 model.

im not sure if this is true. does anyone know?

What you could do is.

Buy the surround panel from SEAT for the optional satnav unit.

Then

Buy the 1 DIN adaptor from VW for the golf P/N 1K0 857 059 3X1.

correct.

The AUX IN is also used for the 6CD autochanger.

Thanks for that!

Are there any after market units that support the steering wheel controls?
