Hi all,

Does anyone know how to remove the driver's side sun visor? I've popped off the two plastic end covers from either side of the rotating arm - expecting to find screws but there are none.

I've tried poking a screwdriver in the various entries and levering gently but nothing seems to get it moving - it's so solid you could hang off it! I'm being particularly careful around the central holes as that "bridge" between them is what the cover holds onto so I dont want to snap that off!

Does anyone have a diagram or a technique for releasing it please?!

Hi monopoly,

I notice there are no replies on this thread, did you ever get it sorted? Just asking because the mirror glass on my visor of my recently bought mk3 is broken and I've been told by the main stealer, Arnold Shark Newcastle, that the whole visor has to be replaced . Unless it's silly money, I may do it myself, as they are a pack of :censored: and won't replace it.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Yes I did manage to sort it in the end. The short answer is that there are no screws and the pivoting side of sun visor does just pull out of the hole, but there is a very awkward (and strong) clip holding it into the roof.

SEAT have a special flat two-pronged tool to reach into the clip (having removed the plastic cover). You might be able to get at it with some needle-nosed pliers? I used two micro screwdrivers at the same time to squeeze it but it wasn't easy!

The clip is like a an upside-down "W" so if you can imagine you need to squeeze the sides in to get it to drop out. To be honest, i'm not sure I fully released it as I had to put a LOT of effort into pulling downwards to get it out, but, it has gone back in fine and holds tight.

When you get it out, disconnect the plug for the vanity light and make sure you dont lose the plug into the headlining!

Once you have the visor off, you can gently unclip the plastic frame around the mirror and remove the broken pieces.

I then bought a 3mm piece of this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3mm-Silver-Acrylic-Mirror-Sheet-36-SIZES-TO-CHOOSE-Perspex-Plastic-Safety-Mirr-/121649819762?var=&hash=item1c52e4f072:m:majYnMhtzIw3RDoGsZpGPYA

and cut it to size (deep score and snap). It has enough flex in it to be able to persuade it into the hole. I secured it with some sticky foam pads on the back and snapped the frame back into place.

Looking at it now you'd never know it was plastic mirror and obviously wont break again as it can flex with the visor (they made them too flimsy!). It's quite a lot of effort but it's a £2 fix instead of £80-ish (IIRC) for a new visor.

Hope that helps
