i have an APR downpipe with sports cat and a full custom cat back system. sounds really nice although i would have liked it a bit louder. is there any negative or positive's on getting it back to the exhaust place and getting the rear box taken out to make it louder? so it would just be the DP with the cat and then basically a straight through to the tail pipe? not sure if that works or not?

Would be loud enough to make your ears bleed!!!. Would have thought it would make the car run like a dog when off boost, as it will lose all back pressure. Just out of interest how loud do you want it? Without a back system, it will even be too loud for most tracks. Would you not feel daft driving a car that was louder than some track cars without the performance????
Just a final thought, the back box not only kills some of the noise, but a decent system will use a box which produces a nice deep sound. You run the risk of it sounding loud by crap! i have ridden a bike with a full race system on, and a lot of the time they sound crap but very very loud!

I think it would run fine? its no different from a non resonated Miltek system if you miss the rear silencer box out?

I did this on my Golf basically the back box is replaced with a straight bit of pipe and a exhaust TIP.
It was fairly loud it sounded a lot like the 42 Draft designs exhaust on You tube.
The biggest problem is the Droning on the motorway but the noise when on Boost is pretty addictive it cost be about 50 fitted through a custom exhaust place

Yes. he is talking about removing all the boxes and just having a straight pipe from the cat out the exhaust!!!!
You may as well go the whole hog and get a decat as well, cus it aint going to get through an MOT without a silencer of some description.
How loud is loud enough?
The Piper system on my LC makes a lovely noise at tickover, pops on lift off and sounds awesome on full boost. When they made the system on my car, i was chatting to Piper a lot and they were very careful to make a system that didn't sound like a chavy saxo!
