Remove track rod ends from hub?

Any ideas how to do this?

Used a massive breaker bar to undo the nut but now I can't get the threaded part of the track rod end out of the hub. Even with a metal mallet and by jacking the wishbone up.

Any tips?

Thanks

It's only to change the steering rack gaitor as it's in about 3 pieces. :D

I've never done this job on this car, but I seem to remember on my wife's Polo that space looked a bit limited. If possible, use two hammers and shock the area the tapered TRE goes through - use the hammers as near opposite as possible and strike with both at the same time - that has always worked for me in the past.

Sounds like a job for the blow torch.

If you are replacing the track rod ends, try concentrate some heat on to the hub part that the track rod end bolts into. It will make it expand and should unseize it. When it is still hot thump it out.

Worked a treat on other vehicles for me, just make sure the flame or heat doesnt go near anything that could be damaged, such as ur brake hose.
