Removal of gear gaitor how?

I am trying to remove the gear gaitor, in my golf it was as easy as just push foward and prise it up the plastic trim at the bottom. i have tryed to get the one off the leon but it wont budge and i dont want to break it. any tips or anybody done it sucesfully?

if you feel around the edge of the gaitor, towards the back of it, there a two clips which you need to push apart through the gaitor - hope that makes sense ish!

clips could just be worn if its been in and out a few times?
