Hey,

I changed my Aura head unit yesterday to an aftermarket one and stupidly forgot to eject the cd holder thing from the cd changer before disconnecting it and removing the aura unit.
Now i cant get the cds out of it.
It there a mechanical defeat to remove the cd holder unit in the cd changer?

No cds are loaded into the changer as had it out the day before and never selected the cds again.

i know with computer CD drives there is a lil hole next to where the CD is slotted in, unfold a paper clip and push it in. should do the trick.

Well dont think so, once the cd magazine is inserted, it gets locked in by a mechanism and select a cd. you would need to power it up to remove it. Its not like a casste its mechanically operated.

a simple solution if there is someone nearby with a Leon is swap your changer with theirs' - only takes a few minutes to do.

xd-data-ii - do you still have the Aura headunit + the CD changer cable? - if so you could power them up from a 12V PSU - pinouts for the Aura are around somewhere (it is a standard ISO connection anyway!)

777cupra - where in Buckinghamshire are you?

Yeah thats a good idea. Was thinking of that. doubt i would even need the aura head unit. (i have it though). Just need to remove the CD Changer and apply 12V to the relevant pins?

Also with the new head unit and with an aerial amplifier I am finding the radio reception not great and it a lttle intermittant in areas where the aura one was perfect.
Is this the same for all aftermarket head units requiring the aerial amplifier?
Is the aura units reception much better than the aftermarket ones generally?

Lol, I did the same and left my CD casette in with a few CDs in when it had started to go faulty. I couldn't see any release mechanism so I destroyed the piece of crap multichanger!! Very satisfying!

i've striped a few CD Changers, they are easy to remove the magazine as long as a CD is not in the player, if not you should be able to do it by ust undoing the casing bolts, but if the CD is in the player you'll have to take the disc holder out to allow the cd to slide back into the magazine and be released !!

some may say lala land....
weird, i forgot to take mine out the evening and just opened door, climbed in and pressed the eject button and cartridge came out.

No i haven't changed head unit.
No i didn't urn on the head unit.

Does this indicate it always has power?? or is my car just weird!!!

I expect that there's a permanent live to the changer in addition to the switched live from the head unit meaning that the eject mechanism will always work when in the car.

Pretty sure that's the case :)

As for removing it without power, the tab that releases the clip is under the main board at the top of the unit (with the casing removed) so can't see how you'd ever release it without a major strip-down

I made the same mistake when I changed my HU. Ended up having to reconnect everything - particularly the earth as I spent a lot of time head scratching trying to find out why it wasn't working. Good luck...

Just had to do this to a unit removed from the Leon. FYI - Attach the neg lead of a 12V power supply or battery to the chassis of the unit then attach the + pos of the power supply to the yellow lead - should power it enough to eject the CD holder.
