ok my remote locking stopped working a while ago, i thought it was the battery so i replaced the 2 existibng ones with new ones

didn't work so i tried the re-program procedure in the handbook but still no luck

now i am not sure if it needs taking to the seat garage to have a look at, or if its the control thing in the fuse box which needs replacing. any ideas?

The button pressing position on the fob seems to move slightly, had the same issues with mine. Took it all apart, changed battery, made sure it was all lined up again and its been workin great since.

Try pressing "around" where the standard button position is, and between the lock / unlock button area, that is, if the red led is flashing

what years the car and what model?? Is it infrared or radio remote.

If its infrared there is a little bulb next to the actual key blade.

Would have a better idea of what might be broken then

its a 99 t plate i think its a march registration

only light on it is between the lock and unlock key which is the red led which flashes when you lock or unlock the car

So its a radio remote, it could be that its flashing but not sending the signal or it could be that as you say the receiver in the car isnt working.

The receiver controller in the car is behind the main centre console its a white box with Siemens wrote on it (they make the transponders) so you could have a look here for any connections broke.

From past experience though my money would be on the remote being knackered everytime, had 3 remotes of this type now.

If the remote has lost its programming then it will still flash but the car will not open.

Well it cost me £130 for a new key and to have it programmed by the dealer when the transmitter broke in mine.

The only real way to test is to take it to a dealer who should be able to tell if the keys transmitting and why the car isnt responding.

Is opening your car from 10m away worth £130 is the question you have to ask yourself.
