Remote key fob pairing gremlins

Hi all,

Managed to pick myself up a Leon 110 ASV back in Feb and loving it so far. Although I have one issue that I'm hoping someone can help out with.

It had a few drivers door locking issues which I since resolved by installing a new Door lock control module (what a job that was!). Now the car manually locks as expected and a double unlock opens all doors ( I previously had to use the lock controls on the door). The windows also go up and down if i hold the key in the lock/unlock position.

The car was sold with a non-working remote key fob and the guy that sold it thought it needed a new battery..oh how he was wrong.

I've tried to pair the remote to the car via the method in the owners manual which is-

1. Turn on ignition with key without buttons
2. manually lock drivers door
3. press and hold unlock button on key
4. manually unlock and lock drivers door
5. release unlock button on key
6. turn off ignition and remove key

but no luck.

I've also purchased a new key running at the same frequency but again no luck.

Next, I got my friend who has a vag-com to try pairing the key via adaptation but this again is not working as during the pairing process, when I push a button on the key, it is not being discovered and the fault code on vag-com returns :

01179- Incorrect Key Programming.

When checking the Central connivence (Address 46) fault code it is also returning

00928- Locking Module for Central Locking: From Driver Side (F220) 27-00 Implausible Signal.

I have a feeling that due to this fault, I cannot pair the remote fob.

Now, I think it could be one of the first two possible causes-

▪ Wiring/Connectors from/to Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Driver Side (F220) faulty
▪ Voltage Supply for Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Driver Side (F220) faulty

When looking at the old door lock control module, there was some corrosion on pin 8. See below pic. This seemed to affect the same pin within the wire loom which connects to this connector.

I've also checked the measuring blocks for the door locks and when I lock the doors (via the door controls) I get the following results-

Locked Locked Locked Locked

but when unlocking, I get

Implausible Unlocked Unlocked Unlocked

So, to save me pulling the door apart again (and saving my sanity) could the corrosion on pin 8 cause the Implausible signal fault and in turn, cause the remote fob pairing issues?

Is there anything else I should check in regards to remote pairing?

I've read about the CCM but this seems to be in a safer place compared to under the drivers side carpet like other VAG vehicles.

Thanks all for your help and reading this lengthy post

Got drivers side module on fleaBay :) Build quality was top notch however and they have fixed the majority of door locking/unlocking issues.

Prior to removing the door lock module I ran VCDs and the same error was occurring so the fault seems common across both modules which does lead me to believe that pin 8 does deal with the unlock signal.

A bit of sleepless research last night also pointed me to here-

w_w_w.justanswer.com/ford/332ty-i-m-trying-install-power-locks-focus-notice.html

which shows a similar pin out for the door actuator connection and pin 8 is unlock signal.

The main question is now, would this affect the key pairing sequence with both VCDS and via owners manual method?

I think owners manual method will be affected as it cant tell if the door is unlocked. For VCDS, Im not sure...

Thanks again.

Yeh it would affect the pairing mate because the door modual isn't sending the signal to the ECU

Thanks John, you have confirmed my fears :)

Looks like it will be another wee project for when its a consistent sunny day.

Replaced the module last weekend and the rain was on and off like nobodies business. The joys of living is "sunny" Scotland

Cheers mate Just liked your FB page. I do most of my work myself on the car but will def keep you in mind if I hit a brick wall :)

For the door module, communication seems ok as not receiving the relevant fault code which I believe would be

01331 - Door Control Module; Driver Side (J386) No Communications

but saying that, I am a VCDs newbie :D
