OK this may sound a big stupid, but I'm used to tunning petrol cars, and this is my first attempt with an oil burner.

I know that diesels produce a fair amount of smoke when pushed, but do the likes of Revo, Superchips and AMD create more?

I've just installed the Bluefin (Superchips) on my Mk 2 Leon 2.0 TDI 140, and there is a serious amount of smoke when pushed. I even had a concerned bus driver comment on the amount of smoke.

Be carefull with the smoke on that engine, some smoke slightly as standard but exess smoke will cause you problems.

I recomend you get it turned down a tad.

a proper remap by the likes of Revo for example will not produce anymore smoke at all, sounds like the superchips (which dont have a good rep with the VAG TDIs) is just over fuelling too much and not increasing the air to take into account the extra fuel.

Cheers guys. I'll speak to Superchips on Monday and see what they say. If they cant do anything I'll take it off that afternoon and get my money back.

I went this way over the Revo as they are about the same thing, and reading good reports from golf owners. Sorry but you dont get a 'proper' remap in 30-60 minutes.
