Hi, I've been looking at the possibilty of a stage 1 remap on my LCR but i'm wondering what is actually involved? Is it a case of the remapper plugs their laptop into the car and uploads the the new map? normally how long does this take? I've got a price for a Revo stage 1 from my local agent for £460 (excl rolling road run) which I thought was quite expensive for what I think is involved. But I guess you are paying for a 'product' to make your car go quicker.

ive had my remap for 6months now and i do not regret it and i had mine from performance torque in wolverhampton, he put my car car on a diagnostics first to see everything was ok, then on the dyno , then he uploaded the software then again on the dyno with print outs, WELL WORTH THE MONEY I PAID personaly :) and i havent looked back , my next car i get will be getting a remap from there awswell

but end of the day the choice is always yours, alot of people have had remaps from different companies and they have all had good feed back from where they had theres from....

We do a 6 hour free trial on the APR that we do if you want to have a try before you buy
Then you will see where your money goes to ;)
Superb it is
Lasts 6 hours driving time too
Checks are done before and after too before the trial and the map itself too

i had mine done this after noon and well worth the money
the guy drove my car around the block to see how it was.plugged laptop in for any fault codes coming up and make sure everything is ok for the remap.then put on the rollers for standard output.fitted my panel filter and dv and done the remap.put back on the rollers for the finshed output.drove it around the block.sorted car flys and they cleared my airbag light fault

took my leon fr down to performance torque to have mine done a long drive from leeds but well worth it he put it on rolling road did a diagnostic test then appliedthe map he managed to get 205bhp from standard 180bhp the difference is amazing especially the torque and cheap compared to the other companys 265quid for all that work 2 dyno runs the map and the diagnostic test bargain had mine on for 3months and absolutely faultless

Just round the corner.
I had mine remapped today by Custom Code at GTI International, £262.00 took 10 minutes to apply map.
Then took her up the strip, against a LCR (with a claimed 272bhp) I wasn't that far behind him.

I had to have her rolling roaded at a seperate company at inters, she pushed out 195.5bhp (156.7 at the wheels) and 237.2lb. The operator said that the ECU would need around 50 / 60 miles to adapt to the remap, and then she should put put around the 210bhp.

The torque is really, although she wouldn't go past 138 mph.
Oh and the fuel economy has dived considerably, although if I kept her below 5k i'm sure this will go back to normal.
Well worth it for the smile it puts on your face.

if you drive 'like for like' you would normally find an improvement in MPG. however of course its unlikely you have driven like for like... ;)

I went to AMD Technik in Essex for remap n dyno session. Well impressed with the results n the guys there are friendly, knowledable and helpfull. Got 140 TDi upto 182bhp, more importantly now got 343 lb/ft torque!
Also got a better average mpg now when I drive less enthusiasticaly

AmD charge £400 for remap and 2 sessions on the rolling road, 1 before and 1 after remap. Also they do a quick check on oil, coolant, tyres and genral car health, then a road test before any work goes on.

Looked a lot online before going to AMD and a tuning box can set you back £400+ alone with no Dyno time or proof of power increase.....

so what is exactly done for your money = is the map just increasing boost and fuel and left at that or are there other things involved - can a custom mapper tam the TCS down a little i find it too aggressive and cuts all power - not good at a roundabout

cheers

Not a direct answer to the question, but in the dry you'd probably be better off with the TCS 'off' and just use less throttle. A little wheel-spin, but you won't lose any power... and you'll get better acceleration that way.
