Remapping - suitable for all cars?!

Hey,

Now in comparison to the majority of your cars mine slow - but that doesn't bother me!

However, I'm just wondering if remapping does have any benefits for other petrol cars - 1.8 20V comes to mind.

If I wanted a faster car, I'd have bought a Cupra. I'm not after speed primarily. But could it improve economy/smoothness/performance?

Well hard to say, IMOP think remapping is ideal for turbo charged vechiles as they are large gains  but it the owners choice

this in a on turbo normally aspirated car i take it?
then i would say the benfit will be a fraction of what is seen on the 1.8T.

so unless you can get it cheap, then id say no. and thats not get a cheap chip, i mean a good chip cheap.. said the birdy... ;)

However cheap or not, in my opinion i would not bother if i was you.

on a 1.8 20v Se if I wanted the car to perform better I'd look at better braking, suspension etc rather than a 'chip' or remap

If you want to improve the engine a better intake and exhaust may help too

I think for the cost you would be disapointed with a chip / remap

Probably looking at no more than a 5bhp increase for a £400+ investment :( so like the others have advised, and concentrate on suspension, air intake and exhaust if i were you.......or get a 1.8t
