Does anyone with a chipped 20vt manage to get the power down in 1st?

I was remapped at the weekend, and even in very warm weather on sunday, would it hell grip beyond 4000rpm in 1st - not the end of the world admittedly, but slightly annoying!

The car has GSD3's on, but im just wondering whether anything could help it grip better?

On the plus side, the car absolutely flies now - the punch of torque at 3k is incredible and just propels the car forwards. Definately has the trademark K03s fall off beyond 5.5k, but the oomph in any gear mid-range is totally addictive :D

The fuel economy is fab too (when i can stop using my right foot)... the trip back from Bell Autos returned 39mpg with lots of on off driving on the A1, compared to the 34mpg on the way there - pretty incredible.

Also had the luck of driving my mates new GTI back to back after the map, and the Leon is now considerably pokier and faster, but then, both delivery their power in entirely different ways. The Leon being quite laggy, massive amounts of torque, and a very noticable band to keep it in, where as the GTI is as smooth as a babys bum, and keeps pulling and pulling all the way.

what remap did you have mate ? debating between jabba and revo at the moment......... may even consider APR just not sure. I did have the revo demo which was highly addictive lol........

have you also changed anything else when having the remap.

I had my remap done by Pete@Bell Auto Services in York mate (see the advertisers section). Top bloke, and top remap, over the moon with it. Super smooth, is better to drive than standard even around town - and goes like a rocket when the mood takes you (most of the time at the moment!).

I've got a green panel filter, plus a Forge Dv - so nothing thats going to affect power output.

A standard LCR can't do much in 1st, let alone chipped. Just need to feather it until your up to speed.

Sorry to disagree with you but I have no problem in getting my power down in first in the dry.
Dog bone mount bushes, ARB and strutt braces make a huge difference.
Have to be quite controlled about how much you depress the loud pedal but with pratice it is no problem;)

Hi,

Changed tyres from GSD3 to Brigdestone RE070, now have a lot better front end grip and easier to get off the line now, even though have i have not changed Dogbone mount yet.

i don't floor my car in 1st with the ESP off and with it turned on the dash lights up instead of the tyres. in the wet second and sometimes third are a waste of time too but in the dry its a different matter. i've got powerflex dog bone bushes and H&R ARB's waiting to go on the car so that should help a bit.

I concur..... Dog Bone Mount needs to be done, it's made a HUGE difference to traction off the line, even on standard power.

Make sure your tyre pressures are not too high!

Your probably just trying to launch it too quick it difficult getting a heavy FWD car off the line. Do a rolling start in first gear then floor it from 3,000rpm, in the dry they shouldn't spin too much, they may scrabble for grip but nothing more.

i have revo stage 1 on my LC and even with toyo proxes t1r's and powerflex dog bone mount bushes and the car was still hellish in 1st/2nd with the boot down. wheel spins like crazy especially in the wet.

That's ok because you're not disagreeing. I said a standard LCR ;)

Cheers lads :)

Will probs get a dogbone mount next week, and maybe the strut brace(s) soon too... the front end spoils the car to be honest.

To save opening another thread, have many folks had clutch issues almost immediately following a remap? I could smell mine quite strongly earlier, and i dont know whether its just an initial thing with it having wads more torque, or whether its a bad sign for the months to come? (car has 32k on it, but 99% town driving)
