Afternoon. I have noticed a little problem with my car and after looking at it last night it sounds like the clutch release bearing.

There is a rattle from the gearbox when the car is idling but goes away when the clutch is pressed in.
I also notice that when in traffic and in first gear even with the clutch all the way in it feels like the car is still trying to pull.

The car has done 17k miles and Ive no idea how long this has been happening as I got the car two weeks ago and never noticed it due to a loud exhaust. The gear change has been nothcy since getting it but I though that might just be down to linkage adjustment.

I suppose my main question is that if it is the release bearing are we looking at gearbox out job to replace?
What will happen if I leave it for a while:headhurt:, will it eventually disintegrate and fubar the gearbox?

It could be the release bearing - does the pedal tap against your foot when you're pressing it?

Surely if the car has that little mileage it's still under warranty??

And no, you don't want to leave it and I'd imagine it's gearbox out to sort

Update on this. Turns out the car actually has a Helix uprated clutch and single mass flywheel fitted. The rattling noise is the flywheel and its prefectly ok.
