I got offered fuel cleaner treatment for when my car goes in for a service on Monday. I told the guy I run the car on super unleaded and didn't want it. He said I probably wouldn't need it if that was case.
AFAIK, the engine cleaner things just kick the octane up a notch and have some detergents in. As Donnyboy said, if you run on 99 octane already, you shouldn't need it.
Doesn't do any harm I add some to mine maybe once or twice a year usually when I see it on offer in Tesco or somewhere.
I just pour the whole bottle in when I've got above half a tank of fuel in.
Can't do any harm really if anything it will help clean some of the carbon from our dirty Tfsi engines and help lubricate and clean the injectors which are becoming more common for failure.
I tried the rdx10 (petrol injector fuel system cleaner), its a tad confusing as the rdx2 and rdx10 have the same name but in the fine print on the back rdx10 says petrol injectors and rdx2 says carburetor. I went back to my local and they have all sold out now.
I'm not to sure if its a placebo effect but i thought the throttle response was a little more responsive when cold.
