Red flashing light on temp gauge

Hello all, thought i would post my own thread, here goes....

This morning i started the car, it beeped a few times and the red light (which i have never seen before) flashed on the temp gauge.

I run it for about 2 miles, checked the oil, water and all was ok.
I started the engine again and the light didn't flash.

Am i right in thinking this could be a water pump issue as well or maybe a sensor?

It had been parked on a slight hill so i thought that the oil pickup pipe in the sump may not have been near the oil but this was long shot.

Any advice before i have to take the car tothe dealer would be appreciated.

Many thank you's.

mine does this alllll the time...mines just a faulty sensor on the coolant tank and I havent bothered to replace it as it doesnt do it all the time. Sounds like yours could be the same?

You need to check your water level first thing on a morning after the engine has cooled right down. Your level is probably just below min. Running it for 2 miles will cause the water to expand slightly and be above the min line.

I have a tiny leak in my coolant which I need to top up every few months. The flashing light comes on only on a morning when it is cold. Even after I've been at work all day it won't come on. Next morning it will.
