Recon gearbox - 2.0 GTi

Hi guys,

New to these parts of the forum - just seen a Mk2 Ibiza 2.0 GTi going for a song - only problem is apparently there's a crunch going into 2nd, so a recon gearbox is suggested - anyone got any ideas on price to buy/fit these?

mate just had a new box put in his mk3 £640ish i think fitted....warrantied for 15k or something??

just 2nd ? or pedal box possibly ?

isnt the 2nd gear 'mesh' quite a common problem on these boxes ?

Apparently just 2nd ... here's the advert text

3 Doors, Manual, Hatchback, Petrol, 110,000 miles, Grey, 2 Owners. Finished in Silver with Black sports cloth, this vehicle has no MOT and needs a reconditioned gearbox, when driving there is a slight crunch into second gear, so would be a good project for someone. This price does not include any warranty and is sold as a non runner.

So, if it is just the gearbox, it'd be possible to get the car and gearbox and MOT for ~1000 (as long as there are no other issues) - sound a good price?
