Recirculation Valve Help Needed!!!

Leon Cupra - I had the diagnosis light come on 3 weeks ago and took it to a reputable VW garage. I was told I needed a recirculation valve replaced and happily paid the £44 for the part (not inc.labour)

3 weeks later and the light came on again. I took the car in thinking that the the light would be reset, however was told that the Dump Valve needed replacing. I asked the question - "isn't the dump valve a recirculting dump valve and therefore the same part that has been replaced recently". I was then told that there are 2 recirculation valves!

Is this the case? - are there in fact 2 recirculation valves one known as a recirluating dump valve and one known simply as a recirluation valve?

Any info for an amatuer would be appreciated.

could mean n249 and the DV both are in the same loop (N249 actuated the DV)

If its the bosch standard plastic DV which has gone go and buy a Forge 007 or bailey DV30.These replace the standard Bosch plastic valve and will last longer in the long run.You can buy these new for 70-80 quid.
You can also fit these yourself.See the guides on fitting on here.

I can't see it being the same valve dying twice in such a short period.

As Saul said it could be one of the valves that controls the DV - Theres an N75 and an N249 valve, and then the actual DV (Bosch recirc) itself. Could be any of these I suppose.

As mentioned its worth getting an aftermarket DV (Forge 007P seems to be the most popular) as they can't really go wrong - made entirely out of aluminium and no rubber diaphragm, so theres nothing to split.
