Rebuilding Head/Lump

As i've got to get the head off to sort out my possible valve stem seals i was just wondering if its worth replacing anything else while the head is off. The cars done 78k now, at least 30k of revo, so any help, costs or parts would be great.

I dont plan to go BT or at least BT that would require uprated internals at all, so all parts would be standard or reccomended uprated parts.

Thanks.

cam chain & tensioner is well worth swapping while you're there - they have a tendancy to shatter / fail after a while - replace with std

i'm a sucker for going OTT but check/clean the ports and guides and if all ok a good clean up wouldn't hurt for sure

Everything will be checked and cleaned as well. I'll change anything that looks a bit suspect.

Thanks for the help people, just wondering whats the best way to get hold of the parts, dealers or places like ECP/GSF?

been finding a majority of GSF stuff lately is some unknown dodgy looking import stuff and have been having problems with it too

don't get me wrong they are well handy and cheap and we use em as an extra local supplier but anything we have had lately always looks a bit iffy

i ended up using Mahle pistons - Payen gaskets and iirc the guides were from Rhienz

get the best you can afford rather than the cheapest sounds daft but it helps in teh long run

Thanks for the info flapper, i dont really want to skimp on the parts as i'm planning on keeping the car a while.

Whats the worst case scenario of parts you think i'll need to replace, being as i know the compression was fine, oil on the plugs and i'm not seeing any det/misfires etc..

Car will be goin into have the problems sorted soon, just wondering how much parts will be, been quoted 300-350 on labour, just gotta cost the parts now as well. Cant really seein it be a great deal as pistons, rods, valves etc.. are fine, well appear to be,

Any ideas rough prices on..

valves, inlet and exhaust
guides
stem seals

Thanks.
