Rear windscreen wiper stops in the middle of the window.

I've a 64 Leon FR and I've noticed recently that my rear wiper doesn't return back to the base of the window when I've finished.
It does wipe normally when I use it but when Im done it just stays in the middle of the window.
Does it need some sort of reset?

I have the same age car and the same problem. On older vehicles and I assume there is no difference here, there is a contact track in the wiper unit that powers the wiper motor until the wiper arm is back in the rest position. That can become corroded meaning the wiper sticks before it returns. I do not know if it is possible to clean the track on these wiper assemblies. Hopefully someone with a bit of knowledge will come along.
