Rear tyre wear...help needed!!

Hello all,

I'm hoping your knowledge might help me here. I've got a 2005 Leon FR+ and it's got very odd tyre wear on the rear. The first set of rear tyres wore badly on the outside edge on the RHR, and inside edge on the LHR. This was so bad the edges were bald, and the remaining tread increased in depth up to 5mm on the opposite edge of the tyre (hope that all makes sense!). When the car went in for the 20K service, I asked them to look at it as the fronts were wearing badly as well. When it came back, the dealer said they'd adjusted the geometry on all 4 wheels and everything was now OK. I put new tyres on all round and thought everything would be fine.

Its's now done 50K and the rears have worn exactly the same as the first set of tyres. I've had a 4-wheel geometry done independently and by my local Seat dealer (not cheap!). They've both come back the same, RHR toe in and LHR toe out. Both the independent and dealer have said the rear suspension isn't adjustable as its a fixed beam...so the original dealer that 'adjusted' it must have lied. I've contacted Seat directly, they got the dealer to check the car as they said I must have hit a kerb and bent the rear beam. The dealer has confirmed there is no damage to the wheels, hubs, suspension beam or body (I've owned from new and I know I haven't hit anything). Seat now say it's out of warranty, won't do anything, not their problem....case closed. I've seen threads on rear tyre wear before on here but none showing wear like this, there was also talk of a service fix, but Seat are denying that ever existed.

Sorry this is really long winded but wanted to get the whole problem down so you know what's happening. It's ruining what has been an excellent car for me so far but I'm facing a big bill for something that seems to have been wrong from when the car was built. I hope you can help me....I need all the help I can get!! :(

Cheers people, Ed.

dont know alot about this but it could be the bushes in the rear sub frame, or one side is worn and its pulling the other side out with it, at 2005 it obviously passed an mot, did the mechanic see any play or anything?

Thanks Guys. You're right, it did pass an MOT last year and nothing was said about rear bushes. It due again next week, I'll ask them to be checked over and see if that's the problem. Thanks for the help, I'll keep you posted how it goes.
