I have just had all the front suspension renewed with bushes, shockers and springs and wheel alignment and all seemed fine until earlier today. It was the first time in ages that i had a full car and the handling was awful with the back end going all over the place. Have checked the wheels and they are fine. Could this just be rear shockers or are there any bushes to replace on the back end?

When you say you've checked the rear wheels - what have you checked ?

Could be:

- tyre pressures (too low or too high)
- loose wheel bolts
- knackered wheel bearing (jack each back wheel off ground, grip it top/bottom and see if you can rock it. If you can, don't drive it!!)
- rear beam bushes
- broken spring (causing car to bottom out when loaded & jump over bumps/potholes etc)

How old is the car, what sort of mileage is it on, is it on standard suspension ?

Also, it could still be related to something at the front - seems a bit of a coincidence following all the work you've just had done.

Thanks for thr reply! I have checked tyre pressures and wheel nuts and also had the wheels off the ground to check for bearing probs and all are fine. Its a 2003 tdi 130 sport and admittedly on high mileage so i have organised for it to go into our local independant garage to give it the once over and check beam bushes etc. When all is fixed i will probably fit a rear anti roll bar as it seems to make a big difference in the handling according to all the posts on the site where they have been fitted.
