Rear seat handle broken - help

Hi all,

Its that time again for me to get rid of my Christmas tree, but i have a problem.

On my MK 2 Toledo the linkage in my seats (right hand side) has become disconnected i think within the seat, and pulling on the handle just moves the handle up and down freely, there is no force resisting ans so assume something has broken on the inside.

Does anybody know how i can unlatch the seat to be able to fold it down to get my xmas tree in, or alternatively has anyone managed to fix this issue themselves?

not sure how to fix the problem, without taking the seat out and taking it to peices. It does sound like the handle and latch are connected though.

will your tree fit in if you tie it up and just drop one hakf of the seat?

Hi "dazkeirle"..

..I too have a 'broken' drivers side rear seat linkage, but it was caused by me getting the seat belt trapped when I closed the seat and my impatience in trying to get it free!

I will try and post a few pictures of how I now open the seat as soon as I can (probably Monday), but basically I have taken the plastic casing off the seat and bent a bar into a hook - then use that to drop into the hole left and pull the catch free. [B)]

I have not looked for a replacement as I have no intention of changing the car, but I would imagine you are either looking at a scrappy for a similar bit (assuming you can get at the inners of the seat, or a new rear seat (which would be silly money as you would have to try and match the fabric!!)

As I said earlier, i'll post some pictures as soon as...
