Rear Parking Sensors

Hi, one of my friends recently bought a 2012 Seat Ibiza 1.4 Copa. It came equipped with rear parking sensors and i have a couple of questions on these:

1. How can you tell if the parking sensors are genuine factory fitted?

2. How do the ones on the Seat work? I know how parking sensors work and normally you get a single beep when you put it into reverse and then as you are reversing it beeps, as you get closer to something and the beeps get closer and closer until you get a long beep when you're about 12 inches away from hitting something. On the Ibiza when we put the car in reverse we just get a long continuous beep, as i'm getting closer to something nothing happens and if i kept on reversing i would eventually hit whatever was behind me. There is some crackling that i can hear when i put the car in reverse which i think is coming from the sensors and i think this maybe down to a faulty sensor? Am i right?

Can someone explain to me how the parking sensors on the Seat Ibiza should work and what i can do to try and fix it?

Thanks in advance!

I have factory fitted parking sensors. When you put the car in reverse there is a long beep (to show you that the sensors are engaged) and if you're listening to anything on the stereo the volume turns down a lot so you can hear the sensors clearly. After that long first beep if there is something behind you it will beep kinda like a heartbeat lol, and as you get closer it will get faster. When you're about 30cm from hitting something there will be a continuous beep that won't stop unless you move forward or put the car in N or P. That's about it. As far as what's wrong and how you could fix it sorry but I've no idea.

Also, something I forgot, factory fitted parking sensors are like a part of the bumper itself, they're on the same level as the bumper, here's mine:
