I have never owned a car with rear discs but could some body tell me if they wear equal or more than less to the front ones as my rear pads look half the depth of the front ones
Ive just been into the dealers this afternoon with the same problem. Had new tyres fitted and the tyre fitter noticed the rear pads had worn more than the front. When i went into the dealers, mechanic had a look and said it was normal and that the rear pads are thinner than the front ones to start with. Not sure if I believe that as 7 of the 8 cars i've owned had rear disks and this is the first one were this has happened. Mechanic said my rear pads will last a while so will have to wait and see how they wear now.
I changed my rears around 10k before the fronts, probably due to thicker fronts, but also i believe MKIV Golfs, etc ran with rear biased brakes to prevent nose diving etc. Have had reports of this from different owners of VAG cars.
